It wasn\u2019t the virus that killed him. It was the lockdown. He had been admitted because of a chronic disease unrelated to Covid, but the hospital was thrown into chaos when the city was closed and several nurses tested positive for the virus. One night, the man, the husband of my mother\u2019s best friend, developed a fever. The staff members apparently noticed too late, and within days he was dead. His wife, locked down at home, never got to say goodbye.<br>\u4eca\u5e743\u6708\uff0c\u5728\u4e0a\u6d77\u4e3a\u963b\u6b62\u5965\u5bc6\u514b\u620e\u75c5\u6bd2\u66b4\u53d1\u800c\u5c01\u57ce\u540e\u4e0d\u4e45\uff0c\u6211\u5bb6\u7684\u4e00\u4f4d\u670b\u53cb\u5728\u533b\u9662\u53bb\u4e16\u3002\u6740\u6b7b\u4ed6\u7684\u4e0d\u662f\u75c5\u6bd2\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u5c01\u57ce\u3002\u4ed6\u56e0\u4e00\u79cd\u4e0e\u65b0\u51a0\u65e0\u5173\u7684\u6162\u6027\u75c5\u4f4f\u9662\uff0c\u4f46\u5f53\u57ce\u5e02\u5173\u95ed\uff0c\u51e0\u540d\u62a4\u58eb\u7684\u75c5\u6bd2\u68c0\u6d4b\u5448\u9633\u6027\u540e\uff0c\u533b\u9662\u9677\u5165\u4e86\u6df7\u4e71\u3002\u4e00\u5929\u665a\u4e0a\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7537\u4eba\u2014\u2014\u6211\u6bcd\u4eb2\u6700\u597d\u670b\u53cb\u7684\u4e08\u592b\u2014\u2014\u53d1\u70e7\u4e86\u3002\u533b\u62a4\u4eba\u5458\u53d1\u73b0\u65f6\u663e\u7136\u5df2\u7ecf\u592a\u665a\uff0c\u51e0\u5929\u540e\u4ed6\u5c31\u53bb\u4e16\u4e86\u3002\u4ed6\u7684\u59bb\u5b50\u88ab\u5c01\u5728\u5bb6\u91cc\uff0c\u672a\u80fd\u9001\u4ed6\u6700\u540e\u4e00\u7a0b\u3002<br><br>To console her friend, my mother invoked Chinese society\u2019s fetish for pain: We are taught that pain and suffering are inevitable and that we must stoically endure them rather than identify the source of the pain and eliminate it. \u201cStay positive and move on,\u201d my mother told her. \u201cYour husband wouldn\u2019t want to see you crying every day.\u201d<br>\u4e3a\u4e86\u5b89\u6170\u597d\u53cb\uff0c\u6bcd\u4eb2\u63f4\u5f15\u4e86\u4e2d\u56fd\u793e\u4f1a\u5bf9\u75db\u82e6\u7684\u8ff7\u604b\uff1a\u6211\u4eec\u53d7\u5230\u7684\u6559\u5bfc\u662f\uff0c\u75db\u82e6\u548c\u6298\u78e8\u4e0d\u53ef\u907f\u514d\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5fc5\u987b\u575a\u5f3a\u5730\u5fcd\u53d7\uff0c\u800c\u4e0d\u662f\u627e\u51fa\u75db\u82e6\u7684\u6839\u6e90\uff0c\u5e76\u4e14\u6d88\u9664\u5b83\u3002\u201c\u4e50\u89c2\u70b9\uff0c\u5411\u524d\u770b\uff0c\u201d\u6bcd\u4eb2\u544a\u8bc9\u5979\u3002\u201c\u4f60\u8001\u516c\u4e5f\u4e0d\u5e0c\u671b\u770b\u5230\u4f60\u5929\u5929\u90fd\u5728\u54ed\u3002\u201d<br><br>I seethed at this. Although raised in China, I have lived in the United States for several years. My Americanized side felt that this woman shouldn\u2019t just let it go, that someone must be held to account.<br>\u6211\u5bf9\u6b64\u611f\u5230\u6124\u6012\u3002\u867d\u7136\u5728\u4e2d\u56fd\u957f\u5927\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u5df2\u7ecf\u5728\u7f8e\u56fd\u751f\u6d3b\u4e86\u51e0\u5e74\u3002\u6211\u7f8e\u56fd\u5316\u7684\u90a3\u4e00\u9762\u8ba4\u4e3a\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5973\u4eba\u4e0d\u5e94\u8be5\u5c31\u8fd9\u4e48\u7b97\u4e86\uff0c\u5fc5\u987b\u6709\u4eba\u4e3a\u6b64\u8d1f\u8d23\u3002<br><br>It was thoughts like these \u2014 impatience with the self-defeating acceptance of the pain that life doles out \u2014 that helped incite remarkable demonstrations last month against the Chinese government\u2019s now-abandoned \u201czero Covid\u201d policy. Those brave citizens who took to the streets were rejecting not only the smothering pandemic restrictions they had endured but also our ingrained idolization of pain and sacrifice.<br>\u6b63\u662f\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u60f3\u6cd5\u2014\u2014\u5bf9\u81ea\u6b3a\u6b3a\u4eba\u5730\u63a5\u53d7\u751f\u6d3b\u7ed9\u4e88\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u5931\u53bb\u4e86\u8010\u5fc3\u2014\u2014\u5e2e\u52a9\u5f15\u53d1\u4e86\u4e0a\u4e2a\u6708\u5f15\u4eba\u6ce8\u76ee\u7684\u793a\u5a01\u6d3b\u52a8\uff0c\u53cd\u5bf9\u4e2d\u56fd\u653f\u5e9c\u73b0\u5df2\u653e\u5f03\u7684\u201c\u6e05\u96f6\u201d\u653f\u7b56\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u52c7\u6562\u7684\u516c\u6c11\u8d70\u4e0a\u8857\u5934\uff0c\u4e0d\u4ec5\u62d2\u7edd\u4e86\u88ab\u8feb\u5fcd\u53d7\u7684\u4ee4\u4eba\u7a92\u606f\u7684\u75ab\u60c5\u9650\u5236\uff0c\u4e5f\u62d2\u7edd\u6211\u4eec\u5bf9\u75db\u82e6\u4e0e\u727a\u7272\u6839\u6df1\u8482\u56fa\u7684\u5d07\u62dc\u3002<br><br>As I was growing up in Shanghai, my mother didn\u2019t allow ibuprofen in our home; it would make me less tolerant of pain and thus weaker. When we suffered menstrual pain in school, my female friends and I never visited the infirmary. If we did, the doctor, a woman my mother\u2019s age, would scold us for our lack of fortitude.<br>\u5c0f\u65f6\u5019\u5728\u4e0a\u6d77\uff0c\u6bcd\u4eb2\u4e0d\u5141\u8bb8\u5e03\u6d1b\u82ac\u51fa\u73b0\u5728\u5bb6\u91cc\uff1b\u5b83\u4f1a\u8ba9\u6211\u5bf9\u75db\u82e6\u7684\u5fcd\u8010\u529b\u4e0b\u964d\uff0c\u4ece\u800c\u53d8\u5f97\u8106\u5f31\u3002\u5728\u5b66\u6821\u906d\u53d7\u75db\u7ecf\u65f6\uff0c\u6211\u548c\u6211\u7684\u5973\u6027\u670b\u53cb\u4eec\u4ece\u4e0d\u53bb\u533b\u52a1\u5ba4\u3002\u5982\u679c\u53bb\u4e86\uff0c\u548c\u6211\u6bcd\u4eb2\u5e74\u9f84\u76f8\u4eff\u7684\u5973\u533b\u751f\u4f1a\u56e0\u4e3a\u6211\u4eec\u7f3a\u4e4f\u6bc5\u529b\u800c\u8d23\u5907\u6211\u4eec\u3002<br><br>America, where I came in 2016 to study, couldn\u2019t be more different. I routinely leave medical appointments in the United States with pain medication. But a lifetime of Chinese cultural indoctrination is hard to shake. I have severe pain from sciatica, but reflexively tell myself to stay strong and hold on until my next doctor\u2019s appointment, to just live with it.<br>2016\u5e74\u6211\u6765\u5230\u7f8e\u56fd\u7559\u5b66\uff0c\u8fd9\u91cc\u7684\u60c5\u51b5\u5b8c\u5168\u4e0d\u540c\u3002\u8fd9\u91cc\u7684\u533b\u751f\u7ecf\u5e38\u7ed9\u6211\u5f00\u6b62\u75db\u836f\u3002\u4f46\u662f\u6bd5\u751f\u7684\u4e2d\u56fd\u6587\u5316\u704c\u8f93\u662f\u5f88\u96be\u52a8\u6447\u7684\u3002\u6211\u60a3\u6709\u4e25\u91cd\u7684\u5750\u9aa8\u795e\u7ecf\u75db\uff0c\u4f46\u6211\u6761\u4ef6\u53cd\u5c04\u5730\u544a\u8bc9\u81ea\u5df1\u8981\u575a\u5f3a\uff0c\u575a\u6301\u5230\u4e0b\u4e00\u6b21\u533b\u751f\u9884\u7ea6\uff0c\u8981\u4e60\u60ef\u5b83\u3002<br><br>Chinese history helped shape this mentality. My grandparents\u2019 generation endured great hardship \u2014 the bloody Japanese occupation of the 1930s and \u201940s and the Chinese civil war that ended with Communist victory in 1949. Turmoil and famine under Mao Zedong followed. His Cultural Revolution threw schools into disarray or shut them entirely, disrupting my parents\u2019 education. Millions of other young people were sent from cities to poor rural areas, where they remained for years, overworked and often malnourished. The government never took adequate responsibility.<br>\u4e2d\u56fd\u5386\u53f2\u5851\u9020\u4e86\u8fd9\u79cd\u5fc3\u6001\u3002\u6211\u7684\u7956\u7236\u6bcd\u8f88\u7ecf\u5386\u4e86\u5de8\u5927\u7684\u82e6\u96be\u2014\u2014\u4e0a\u4e16\u7eaa\u4e09\u56db\u5341\u5e74\u4ee3\u8840\u8165\u7684\u65e5\u672c\u5360\u9886\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca1949\u5e74\u4ee5\u5171\u4ea7\u515a\u80dc\u5229\u544a\u7ec8\u7684\u4e2d\u56fd\u5185\u6218\u3002\u968f\u540e\u662f\u6bdb\u6cfd\u4e1c\u9886\u5bfc\u4e0b\u7684\u52a8\u8361\u548c\u9965\u8352\u3002\u4ed6\u53d1\u52a8\u7684\u6587\u5316\u5927\u9769\u547d\u4f7f\u5b66\u6821\u9677\u5165\u6df7\u4e71\u6216\u5b8c\u5168\u5173\u95ed\uff0c\u6270\u4e71\u4e86\u6211\u7236\u6bcd\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u3002\u8fd8\u6709\u6570\u4ee5\u767e\u4e07\u8ba1\u7684\u5e74\u8f7b\u4eba\u4ece\u57ce\u5e02\u88ab\u9001\u5230\u8d2b\u7a77\u7684\u519c\u6751\u5730\u533a\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u5728\u90a3\u91cc\u5f85\u4e86\u597d\u51e0\u5e74\uff0c\u8fc7\u5ea6\u52b3\u7d2f\uff0c\u5f80\u5f80\u8425\u517b\u4e0d\u826f\u3002\u653f\u5e9c\u4ece\u672a\u627f\u62c5\u5b83\u5e94\u8d1f\u7684\u8d23\u4efb\u3002<br><br>My parents learned to simply embrace the pain and disappointment as a part of life and plod on. They accepted the reproductive tyranny of the one-child policy. Undereducated, they had few options apart from factory work but lost even those jobs in the 2000s after economic reforms caused state-owned factories to shed workers by the millions. They struggled to get by and to put me through school, but they were expected to endure it with noble grace.<br>\u7236\u6bcd\u5b66\u4f1a\u4e86\u628a\u75db\u82e6\u548c\u5931\u671b\u5f53\u6210\u751f\u6d3b\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u7136\u540e\u8d1f\u91cd\u524d\u884c\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u63a5\u53d7\u4e86\u72ec\u751f\u5b50\u5973\u653f\u7b56\u7684\u751f\u80b2\u66b4\u653f\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u53d7\u6559\u80b2\u7a0b\u5ea6\u4f4e\uff0c\u9664\u4e86\u5728\u5de5\u5382\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u51e0\u4e4e\u6ca1\u6709\u5176\u4ed6\u9009\u62e9\uff0c\u4f46\u57282000\u5e74\u4ee3\uff0c\u7531\u4e8e\u7ecf\u6d4e\u6539\u9769\u5bfc\u81f4\u56fd\u6709\u5de5\u5382\u89e3\u96c7\u4e86\u6570\u4ee5\u767e\u4e07\u8ba1\u7684\u5de5\u4eba\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u8fde\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u4e5f\u5931\u53bb\u4e86\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u52c9\u5f3a\u5ea6\u65e5\uff0c\u4f9b\u6211\u4e0a\u5b8c\u5b66\uff0c\u4f46\u4ed6\u4eec\u88ab\u671f\u671b\u4ee5\u9ad8\u5c1a\u7684\u98ce\u5ea6\u6765\u5fcd\u53d7\u8fd9\u4e00\u5207\u3002<br><br>In my parents\u2019 eyes, my generation has had it relatively easy. No forced labor or hunger for us. Our pain was seen as more bearable compared with theirs, so we were pushed to embrace it even more. But it was pain nonetheless. As students, we spent almost every waking hour on our daily schoolwork or additional study for the all-important college entrance exams that dictate one\u2019s educational path and, essentially, your destiny in life. My parents would egg me on with a Chinese idiom perhaps best translated as \u201cno pain, no gain.\u201d[color]<br>\u5728\u7236\u6bcd\u770b\u6765\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u8fd9\u4e00\u4ee3\u4eba\u8fc7\u5f97\u76f8\u5bf9\u8f7b\u677e\u3002\u6ca1\u6709\u5f3a\u8feb\u52b3\u52a8\u548c\u9965\u997f\u3002\u4e0e\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u76f8\u6bd4\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u88ab\u8ba4\u4e3a\u66f4\u5bb9\u6613\u5fcd\u53d7\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u6211\u4eec\u88ab\u8feb\u66f4\u52a0\u63a5\u53d7\u5b83\u3002\u4f46\u65e0\u8bba\u5982\u4f55\uff0c\u8fd9\u662f\u75db\u82e6\u3002\u4f5c\u4e3a\u5b66\u751f\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u51e0\u4e4e\u628a\u9192\u7740\u7684\u6bcf\u4e00\u4e2a\u5c0f\u65f6\u90fd\u82b1\u5728\u505a\u529f\u8bfe\u4e0a\uff0c\u6216\u8005\u4e3a\u81f3\u5173\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u9ad8\u8003\u8865\u8bfe\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8003\u8bd5\u51b3\u5b9a\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u9053\u8def\uff0c\u57fa\u672c\u4e0a\u4e5f\u51b3\u5b9a\u4e86\u4f60\u7684\u4eba\u751f\u547d\u8fd0\u3002\u6211\u7684\u7236\u6bcd\u4f1a\u7528\u4e00\u4e2a\u4e2d\u56fd\u6210\u8bed\u6765\u9f13\u52b1\u6211\uff0c\u4e5f\u8bb8\u6700\u597d\u7684\u7ffb\u8bd1\u662f\u201cno pain, no gain\u201d\u3002<br><br>Even those who get into a top university and land a coveted job in China\u2019s tech sector often fall into the 996 rut \u2014 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week of high-pressure work \u2014 that has been blamed for deaths from excessive overtime and even suicide. Falter and there are millions ready to take your place. Uneducated migrant workers fare far worse, toiling away in factories for long hours at low pay.<br>\u5373\u4f7f\u662f\u90a3\u4e9b\u8fdb\u5165\u9876\u5c16\u5927\u5b66\u5e76\u5728\u4e2d\u56fd\u79d1\u6280\u884c\u4e1a\u627e\u5230\u4ee4\u4eba\u7fa1\u6155\u5de5\u4f5c\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u4e5f\u7ecf\u5e38\u9677\u5165\u201c996\u201d\u7684\u56f0\u5883\u2014\u2014\u6bcf\u5468\u516d\u5929\uff0c\u4ece\u65e9\u4e0a\u4e5d\u70b9\u5230\u665a\u4e0a\u4e5d\u70b9\u7684\u9ad8\u538b\u5de5\u4f5c\u2014\u2014\u5bfc\u81f4\u4e86\u8fc7\u52b3\u6b7b\u751a\u81f3\u81ea\u6740\u3002\u7a0d\u6709\u72b9\u8c6b\uff0c\u5c31\u4f1a\u6709\u6570\u767e\u4e07\u4eba\u51c6\u5907\u53d6\u4ee3\u4f60\u7684\u4f4d\u7f6e\u3002\u81f3\u4e8e\u6ca1\u6709\u53d7\u8fc7\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u6c11\u5de5\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u5883\u51b5\u8fd8\u8981\u7cdf\u7cd5\u5f97\u591a\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u5728\u5de5\u5382\u91cc\u957f\u65f6\u95f4\u8f9b\u82e6\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u5de5\u8d44\u5374\u5f88\u4f4e\u3002<br><br>My generation grew up assuming that such hardship was relatively common worldwide. But access to the internet and international travel showed us that is not always true. Many young Chinese now see hypercompetition in education and work as a pointless hamster wheel, even a tool of control and repression. Last year the term \u201ctangping,\u201d or \u201clying flat,\u201d went viral on Chinese social media. It was China\u2019s version of the Great Resignation that began in the United States around the same time. Young people were quitting the rat race with all of its pain and stress. The government began censoring the term.<br>\u6211\u4eec\u8fd9\u4e00\u4ee3\u4eba\u5728\u6210\u957f\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\u4e00\u76f4\u8ba4\u4e3a\uff0c\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u56f0\u96be\u5728\u4e16\u754c\u8303\u56f4\u5185\u662f\u76f8\u5bf9\u666e\u904d\u7684\u3002\u4f46\u4e92\u8054\u7f51\u548c\u51fa\u56fd\u65c5\u884c\u544a\u8bc9\u6211\u4eec\uff0c\u8fd9\u5e76\u4e0d\u603b\u662f\u4e8b\u5b9e\u3002\u8bb8\u591a\u4e2d\u56fd\u5e74\u8f7b\u4eba\u73b0\u5728\u5c06\u6559\u80b2\u548c\u5de5\u4f5c\u4e2d\u7684\u8d85\u7ea7\u7ade\u4e89\u89c6\u4e3a\u6beb\u65e0\u610f\u4e49\u7684\u4ed3\u9f20\u8f6e\uff0c\u751a\u81f3\u662f\u63a7\u5236\u548c\u538b\u5236\u7684\u5de5\u5177\u3002\u53bb\u5e74\uff0c\u201c\u8eba\u5e73\u201d\u4e00\u8bcd\u5728\u4e2d\u56fd\u793e\u4ea4\u5a92\u4f53\u4e0a\u8d70\u7ea2\u3002\u201c\u5927\u8f9e\u804c\u201d(Great Resignation)\u5927\u7ea6\u5728\u540c\u4e00\u65f6\u671f\u5f00\u59cb\u4e8e\u7f8e\u56fd\uff0c\u201c\u8eba\u5e73\u201d\u662f\u5b83\u7684\u4e2d\u56fd\u7248\u3002\u5e74\u8f7b\u4eba\u6b63\u5728\u6446\u8131\u6fc0\u70c8\u7684\u7ade\u4e89\u548c\u6240\u6709\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u548c\u538b\u529b\u3002\u653f\u5e9c\u5f00\u59cb\u5bf9\u8fd9\u4e2a\u8bcd\u8fdb\u884c\u5ba1\u67e5\u3002<br><br>The pandemic was the last straw. When Shanghai was locked down this year, many, including me, believed the government\u2019s claims that it wouldn\u2019t last long. It dragged on for two agonizing months, showing that even if you were willing to submit to society and work extremely hard, there was always more pain being thrust upon you.<br>\u75ab\u60c5\u662f\u6700\u540e\u4e00\u6839\u7a3b\u8349\u3002\u4eca\u5e74\u4e0a\u6d77\u5c01\u57ce\u65f6\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u6211\u5728\u5185\u7684\u8bb8\u591a\u4eba\u90fd\u76f8\u4fe1\u653f\u5e9c\u7684\u8bf4\u6cd5\uff0c\u8ba4\u4e3a\u5c01\u57ce\u4e0d\u4f1a\u6301\u7eed\u592a\u4e45\u3002\u7136\u800c\u5b83\u62d6\u4e86\u75db\u82e6\u7684\u4e24\u4e2a\u6708\u4e4b\u4e45\uff0c\u8868\u660e\u5373\u4f7f\u4f60\u613f\u610f\u670d\u4ece\u793e\u4f1a\uff0c\u6781\u5176\u52aa\u529b\u5730\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u603b\u662f\u6709\u66f4\u591a\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u5f3a\u52a0\u5728\u4f60\u8eab\u4e0a\u3002<br><br>For decades, a tacit social contract was in force in China. The people would be allowed to improve their economic lives. In return, the Communist Party would exercise total political control. We gave up our voices, rights and dignity. Government intrusion into our lives did not begin with the Covid-tracking software introduced during the pandemic; it began in the early 1980s when nearly all new mothers were required to have IUDs inserted into their bodies. They want a happy life and to define \u201chappy\u201d on their own terms.<br>\u5982\u4eca\u7684\u4e2d\u56fd\u5e74\u8f7b\u4eba\u4e0d\u592a\u613f\u610f\u63a5\u53d7\u65e0\u5c3d\u7684\u82e6\u96be\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u60f3\u8981\u5e78\u798f\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\uff0c\u5e76\u4ee5\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\u5b9a\u4e49\u201c\u5e78\u798f\u201d\u3002<br><br>Yet I disagree with portrayals of last month\u2019s street demonstrations as indicating that the Communist Party faces new political threats. The government responded to the protests by quickly abandoning an approach to Covid marked by traumatic lockdowns and harsh restrictions. But a vast majority of China\u2019s people had meekly accepted those hardships for nearly three years, and many will simply look back on the pandemic as yet another example of the pain that we must heroically endure.<br>\u4f46\u6211\u4e0d\u540c\u610f\u628a\u4e0a\u4e2a\u6708\u7684\u8857\u5934\u793a\u5a01\u63cf\u8ff0\u4e3a\u5171\u4ea7\u515a\u9762\u4e34\u65b0\u7684\u653f\u6cbb\u5a01\u80c1\u3002\u653f\u5e9c\u5bf9\u6297\u8bae\u6d3b\u52a8\u7684\u56de\u5e94\u662f\uff0c\u8fc5\u901f\u653e\u5f03\u4e86\u4ee5\u5c01\u9501\u548c\u4e25\u683c\u9650\u5236\u4e3a\u6807\u5fd7\u7684\u65b0\u51a0\u5e94\u5bf9\u63aa\u65bd\u3002\u4f46\u8fd1\u4e09\u5e74\u6765\uff0c\u7edd\u5927\u591a\u6570\u4e2d\u56fd\u4eba\u6c11\u5fcd\u6c14\u541e\u58f0\u5730\u63a5\u53d7\u4e86\u8fd9\u4e9b\u82e6\u96be\uff0c\u8bb8\u591a\u4eba\u5728\u56de\u9996\u75ab\u60c5\u65f6\uff0c\u53ea\u4f1a\u8ba4\u4e3a\u8fd9\u662f\u6211\u4eec\u5fc5\u987b\u82f1\u52c7\u627f\u53d7\u7684\u53c8\u4e00\u6b21\u75db\u82e6\u3002<br><br>This acceptance of pain \u2014 deeply rooted in our culture \u2014 won\u2019t change overnight.
